HELP SAVE LIVES: If the idea of serving your local community appeals to you, become a member of Flotilla 24-12! You can partake in our Public Education, Vessel Safety Check, or Recreational Boating Safety Visitation programs. Flotilla 24-12 members can also take part in on-water operations with other area flotillas.
INCREASE YOUR SKILLS: Flotilla 24-12 members have access to specialized training on all aspects of boating, as well as leadership and administration, provided by the Auxiliary and the Coast Guard. Members can receive valuable training in seamanship, navigation, communications, search and rescue and related skills, making them better and safer boaters.
SUPPORT THE COAST GUARD: Flotilla 24-12 provides direct operational and administrative support to Coast Guard Station New Haven and Sector Long Island Sound. Members wear the Coast Guard Auxiliary uniform and are part of Team Coast Guard. After qualifying through the required training, members can take part in missions such as Search and Rescue operations and radio watchstanding.
SERVE YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY: Flotilla 24-12 members aren't paid with money, but with satisfaction from serving our community. Members can choose to participate at a level tailored to our individual capabilities. We provide boating safety classes and examine recreational vessels for safety equipment to ensure that our neighbors will be safe on our area waterways.
ENJOY FUN AND FELLOWSHIP: If missions such as Public Education, Vessel Safety Checks and Recreational Boating Safety Visitation are the building blocks of the Auxiliary, then fellowship is the mortar holding them together. In all activities, members enjoy fellowship, the good company of other Auxiliarists at meetings and training sessions, on missions, and at ceremonies and social events. Friends, neighbors and interested members of the public are always welcome to attend one of our flotilla meetings. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 1900 (7:00 PM) at the American Legion Hall on Route 67 in Oxford.
